Which Way are You Working?

Have you ever been over committed? Where you feel pulled in many directions by people with expectations for you to fulfill (tasks, event attendance, behaviour). God tells us that we can only serve one Master. When we give ourselves to others, we are almost asking to be torn apart. You cannot work in opposing directions and hope to accomplish anything (I’m taking physics right now, trust me. I can draw you a diagram).

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

God has a plan in mind. He knows how much we can and cannot handle when we lean on Him for direction and strength. Earthly masters take and take, expecting us to give and give when we’ve got nothing left. God asks for our everything, and to be our everything. He doesn’t expect us to build His kingdom with our own strength, but is with us through it all. Jesus was talking about money being our master, but that’s not the only thing to be wary of. What can you feel demanding your attention, and causing you to work out of line with God’s plan?
